AirPrint basics

What is an AirPrint printer?

An AirPrint printer is a printer that iPhone can discover and use over Wi-Fi without installing a separate printer driver. The printer still needs to support AirPrint, be awake, and be reachable on the same local network.

How AirPrint works on iPhone

AirPrint is Apple's local wireless printing path. When a printer supports AirPrint, iPhone can send photos, PDFs, web pages, emails, labels, and other printable files through the iOS print sheet.

AirPrint Pro does not replace the printer's firmware. It helps prepare the file, preview the job, save recent print items, and open the native iOS printer picker with fewer setup steps.

Common AirPrint questions

What is an AirPrint printer?

An AirPrint printer is a printer that can receive print jobs from iPhone, iPad, and Mac over the local network without a separate driver install.

Do I need an app to use AirPrint?

iOS includes the print sheet, but an app can make it easier to prepare files, scan documents, preview photos, save recent items, and recover when printer discovery fails.

Why does my iPhone say no AirPrint printers found?

The most common causes are different Wi-Fi networks, guest network isolation, VPN, a sleeping printer, disabled wireless settings, or a printer model that does not support AirPrint.
